Horror crash on the B209 in Lauenburg: Four injured and traffic chaos - Elbe bridge closed

Several people were injured in a serious traffic accident on the B209 federal road in Lauenburg on Monday evening.

According to initial information from the police, a car and a van collided head-on for reasons that are still unclear. The impact of the collision was so violent that the van overturned and came to a stop on its roof.

Both drivers and two passengers were injured in the accident. One person is said to be in critical condition. The injured were taken to nearby hospitals by ambulance.

The B209 was completely closed for several hours after the accident. The police have launched an investigation into the cause of the accident.

The accident caused major traffic disruptions in Lauenburg. The Elbe bridge had to be closed because the overturned van was blocking the road.

The bridge was reopened to traffic around midnight. However, residual delays are still possible.
